CYCLO NORTH-SOUTH SUPPORT TEAM Management style
The five members of the Cyclo North-South operations team work collaboratively and interdependently in a context of shared leadership and consensus. In addition to assigned tasks, team members form a coordination committee supervising all aspects of Cyclo North-South. We all take part in fund raising and supervising operations, ensuring high transparency and tight control. | Honorary chair |

Founder
|  | Claire Morissette, founder of Cyclo North-South, passed away in July 2007 at age 57, after a long struggle with cancer. Claire was Québec’s most ardent cycling activist ever. She also led Le Monde à Bicyclette with Robert Silverman for 25 years from the ‘70s to the ‘90s, while fighting for the rights of cyclists in Montréal. Among their many accomplishments, they obtained access to the metro for bicycles, and the cycling links between Notre Dame Island and the South Shore, and between Nuns’ Island and Montréal Island. Using imaginative stunts to dramatize and put the cycling cause on the political agenda, they attracted media coverage of, for example, the 1976 “die-in” which created repercussions all the way to Amsterdam.
Always ahead of her times, in addition to founding Cyclo North-South, she instigated Montréal’s car sharing organization Communauto and published Deux roues, un avenir about the state of global cycling and her passion for the bicycle. | | |
