| Lucie is an experienced traveller, professional photographer, web editor and an elite road cyclist. As a young woman, Lucie adopted a love for traveling backpacking through Europe. She recently broadened her horizons working on community development projects in Mali, West Africa. Lucie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a Certificate in Journalism, a Diploma in Community Web Design and a DEC in photography. She works as a web editor for Chatelaine.com and races for Cascades – ABC Cycles women’s cycling team. | Torrey is a teacher, writer, outdoor enthusiast and accomplished cyclist. He has worked as a guide for cycling trips for teenagers in Canada and the US and has been on countless cycling and camping expeditions, including solo winter trips in Canada’s subarctic. He enjoys sleeping in a tent and waking up somewhere new every day. He holds a Master of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. He teaches English Literature at Dawson College in Montreal. | | Lucie and Torrey met 8 years ago while working as bike messengers in Montreal. After getting married in 2006, they made the jump to provincial and national road racing. Now they’re bringing their passion for cycling and adventure to a new level. |
Some of the trip’s objectives inlcude: - Raising funds for Cyclo Nord-Sud;
- Promoting cycling as a viable and environmentally friendly means of transportation;
- Meeting with progressive cycling advocacy initiatives throughout the trip and promoting them through media contact and through our website;
- Encouraging sustainable development;
- Visiting Cyclo Nord-Sud partners in Central and South America;
- Experiencing an incredible adventure.
CYCLO NORD-SUd's ambassadors As ambassadors for this organization, Lucie and Torrey will meet with Cyclo Nord Sud’s Latin American partners and hopefully create contacts with new ones along the way. This ride is something concrete to help promote sustainable transportation and international cooperation while celebrating passion for cycling and adventure. Your contribution Donate to Cyclo Nord-Sud and help support the expedition at the same time! 50% of your donation will be used to keep Lucie and Torrey rolling toward our partners in the South, and 50% will be used to send them used bikes from Quebec. | Individual’s or organizations contributing $30 or more per year to Cyclo North-South are entitled to a year of membership, according to our policy. In return, a member receives a tax receipt, our biannual Bulletin and voting privileges at our annual meeting in the spring. | |
